Caring and Well Trained Staff

Our staff nurtures the healthy, successful growth of every child by emphasizing values such as caring, honesty, respect and responsibility. Annually staff continues their education with courses in child development, first aid, water and fire safety and CPR. All classroom lead teachers hold post secondary education degrees.

Traditional Preschool & Preschool Wrap

School readiness involves more than just children – it involves children, families, schools and communities. The Y works with all four partners to ready kids for Kindergarten by working towards individual accomplishment of 50 skills.  To learn more about these 50 kindergarten ready skills, visit www.erietogether.org.

We offer Traditional Preschool during a morning session, as well as a preschool wrap program which offers additional enrichment programming after the traditional preschool hours while mom and dad are still working.

Before & After School Enrichment

white boy fingerpaintingWhen the bell rings at the end of the school day, children  need a safe and nurturing place to go when their parents are still at work or away from home. Combining play with academics, our after school programs fill gaps in school  by offering enrichment through arts, music, physical education, sports and nutrition.  Youth in our program build self-esteem, values and leadership skills. When the school bell rings, learning does not have to end.  Our after school program is a great way to keep children  not only safe, but engaged in fun and productive activities.

Studies show that participation in after school programs helps boost school attendance and academic performance, and helps to alleviate achievement gaps among children from disadvantaged households.  Youth who attend after school are known to perform better academically and develop skills such as self-regulation, communication, problem solving, team building, negotiation and critical thinking.  It’s also a healthy way for children to stay active and productive when the school day ends.

Financial Assistance

The YMCA is a volunteer-founded, volunteer-led organization with a mission of putting Christian principles into practice through programs that build a healthy spirit, mind and body for all. When you join the Y or participate in a Y program, you’re joining men, women and children from our community who are committed to youth development, healthy living and social responsibility. We believe in providing membership and program services to everyone who wants to participate. We are able to do this through the generous donations of our members and friends of the Y through our annual community support program We Build People.

The YMCA accepts Childcare Information Services (CCIS) payments.  CCIS is additional financial assistance that is available to working families that meet state required guidelines.  Click here for more information.
