School Age Programs

Everybody plays, everybody wins

We believe that all kids deserve the opportunity to discover who they are and what they can achieve. That’s why, through the Y, millions of youth today are cultivating the values, skills and relationships that lead to positive behaviors, better health and educational achievement.

Before and After School Programs

Ages K-15 years

The time before and after school provides the perfect opportunity for children to learn, grow and develop their social skills. Our school-age program lets them take advantage of all the Y has to offer and to express their talents in the arts, sports, and other areas of interest.

Structured activities include KidsLit, science, group projects, environmental awareness, arts and crafts, games, sports components, field trips, and more. Children also have time to tackle homework with the help of well-trained Y staff who know how to challenge and listen to them.

Metro Teen Center

Ages 13-18 years

At the Y’s Metro Teen Center located at the Downtown Y, teens are offered a safe place to socialize and provided a wide selection of teen fitness, healthy living, and self-esteem building activities. Staff members are available to help with homework, and a healthy evening meal is provided.

This program is open until 8:30 p.m. Teens enrolled in the Teen Center must be Y youth members ($5.60/week).

School Fun Days/Holiday Fun Days

Ages K-15

During school days off and holidays, the Y schedules all-day School Fun Days to accommodate children ages K-15 during days off from school. Activities include recreational games, swimming, arts & crafts, community service projects and more.
