Y-Co Reunion Dance And Celebration
Help the Glenwood Park YMCA celebrate its 50th Anniversary
The Glenwood Park YMCA is hosting a Y-Co reunion dance and celebration. The event is scheduled for Saturday, September 29th from 8pm to Midnight at Rainbow Gardens (doors will open at 7:30pm). The dance will bring back memories from your teenage years of the great dances organized by Andy Petersen. Remember the membership cards, the strict dress code, not dancing too close, and Paul Anka’s “All Of The Sudden My Heart Sings.”
Remember those great contests that took place at the dances. Bubble gum bubble blowing, name that tune, and dance contests. We are going to have those very same contests. So tune up your “Watusi” and your “Mashed Potatoes”. We are also going to judge anyone that dresses in 60′s era clothing, though it is not a requirement.
The music, that is another reason the dances were so special. The Paul Yoculan Younger Review band will be playing all of your favorites from the dances. Those include “The Locomotion”, “This Magic Moment”, and many more . Other musicians include Gene Vito of the Contels, The Gray Hounds, and The Essence. The last hour, vintage records will play those wonderful songs you remember. Remember the last hour of the dance, that crystal ball, it will make an appearance as well.
In addition to wonderful musical memories, great contests, and of course dancing, you will be able to see old photos, your schools decorations, and re-connect with people you may not have seen in quite a while.
