Pickleball is a racket sport which combines elements of badmitton, tennis, and table tennis. Fun for all ages.
Glenwood open Pickleball courts 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesdays & Thursdays and Sundays from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Don’t worry about a partner. We partner as we play. We have paddles or you can bring your own.
Eastside open Pickleball courts 11a.m.-1p.m Monday & Wednesday starting January 12th, 2015. One court is designated for beginner/intermediate players and another for advanced players. Pickleball is pick-up, so any can show up and get playing time.
Whether you’ve never played and want to try it, played all your life and want to continue or haven’t played in quite some time… we’ve got a division for you! The YMCA, in conjunction with Family First Sports Park & Gannon University, is able to offer a variety of soccer leagues – there’s a division for everyone!
Being an adult league, all participants must be at least 18 years of age to play. All YMCA programs are recreationally-based, but we do encourage competitiveness as long as it’s within the limits of sportsmanship and respects the game itself.
The league at FFSP plays on Tuesday nights in the Field House (summer – play on outdoor grass fields) and the league at the Eastside YMCA plays on Sundays (summer – play at Gannon University’s Turf Stadium).

Taught at a comfortable pace, this Y class is a great alternative to traditional group exercise. A variety of dance styles are offered throughout the year including Latin, Swing and Ballroom.
Beginner Hustle a fast, lively dance with lots of turns is for students who have never danced the hustle before or for all who want to improve their hustle dancing skill. No partner needed. Register by calling 868-0867 or stop by the Membership Desk.

Each culture has its own style of dance. The way the music flows and the body moves depends on the culture it originates from. The dance can be social, religious, celebratory or supportive. Program held throughout the year at the County Y and during the spring and summer at YMCA Camp Sherwin.

What better place to have a birthday party for kids than the YMCA? We’ve got birthday party fun down to an art and our facility is a giant playground for kids eager to run, climb and play (and eat cake, of course!)
Party times are up to 2.5 hours and can include a variety of combinations from reserved swimming and gym time to planned youth activities/games and, if at our Camp – 70 acres of outdoor recreation including hiking, fishing and canoeing. A party room for cake and gifts is also available. Costs begin at $90 for Y members and community member rates are available. A $25 non-refundable deposit is required. Giving blood is beneficial for those who give and those who receive. The person receiving the blood gets a new chance at life or maybe a booster toward better living. Those who give can feel the power of helping those who need. Other benefits for the donor include self-awareness of pulse, blood pressure, cholesterol, and hemoglobin level as well as bringing own high levels of iron. When a person donates blood they are helping the research toward healthy living and a healthy community. Blood Drives are held in partnership with the Community Blood Bank.

The Eastside Family collects goods monthly for local non-profits including the Second Harvest Food Bank, Wesleyville Food Pantry, military, City Mission, local schools and Mercy Center for Women. We also collect items during the holidays for local families identified by neighboring nonprofits.
Participants have an opportunity to swim in a competitive environment. The swim team competes locally with the opportunity to advance to district, state and national events. Everybody swims, everybody wins. Winter session runs October to March, summer session runs June-July.

This YMCA program is designed to match you with a Personal Trainer who will develop a wellness routine to help you stay motivated and provide you with a workout designed for you to meet your personal wellness goals.
A combination of stretching and strengthening, this class will improve your flexibility and core muscle strength while also focusing on proper body alignment, breathing, and relaxation. (Pilates for Golfing is designed specifically with the golfer in mind) Appropriate for all levels of fitness.
A fitness assessment that compares your chronological age to your BodyAge. It will tell you where you are today and your obtainable BodyAge. This class is an anything goes strength and toning class. Depending on instructor and available equipment, we’ll use barbells, hand weights, resistance bands, stability ball and medicine ball. Work at your own pace; instructor-led modifications.
The Erie Y is a participating fitness facility in the Silver & Fit Fitness Program – a program designed to help older adults achieve better health through regular exercise and health education. These swim classes are participant centered and use problem solving and guided discovery teaching approach. Each swim program is divided into five components: personal safety, personal growth, stroke development, water sports, games and rescue. Swim lessons build a good foundation of basic aquatic skills to develop a lifelong appreciation for aquatic activities. Developmentally appropriate activities to ensure the student’s safety, enhance the student’s enjoyment and provide consistent progressive success for the child. We offer Parent/Child for children as young as 6 months and progressive lessons for children age 3 -12 years.

We offer two options for weight training for women.
Women and Strength Training at the County Y teaches proper use of the free weights and machines to achieve balanced muscle development. Increases metabolism to burn fat. Free to Y members only.
Women and Weights at the Eastside Family Y is weight training class for women, led by women. 7 week class takes place in the free weight room and promises an individualized strength training plan and the confidence to continue on your own. Cost for Y members: $20/ $40-non-members

There’s an Erie Otter inside all of us! This introduction to hockey basics will have your son or daughter learn sport fundamentals including stick handling, passing, shooting, positions and teamwork. Play for youth 4-12 years old. Cost: Y members free/non-members $58. Session held in Winter.

YMCA basketball leagues are the best and most fun around! Volunteer coaches work on basic ball handling, passing, shooting and defensive skills while introducing defensive and offensive schemes. Play appropriate for youth 6-12 (Eastside offers for ages 5 – 13). Session runs Jan – Feb.

This program is offered twice a year (Mar-May & Oct-Dec) for ages 4-13. The goal of the program is for players to learn the basic skills and strategies of soccer; such as: dribbling, passing, shooting, formations, offense/defense, etc. Games (6) are held on Saturdays and 30-minute practices are held once a week, Tuesday through Friday.

This NFL flag football program gives everyone a chance to feel like an NFL player while having fun. Each player receives a set of flags and an official NFL Flag Football jersey. Session held in Summer. Play appropriate for youth 6-15.

Our Ys offer Irish Step, ballet, jazz, hip-hop and modern depending upon location and student’s ability. Teaches creative movement through dance techniques. Ages vary by location. About Alexa Phelps, Glenwood Y Instructor
Miss Alexa has been dancing from the age of three and never plans to stop! She has studied at various dance studios in the Erie area encompassing multiple styles of dance, including ballet, pointe, jazz, hip hop, tap, contemporary, modern jazz, Irish hard and soft shoe, and Latin Jazz. She has been teaching dance for 12 years, starting at the age of 11. She has performed in numerous local showcases, including spring and summer performances, The Nutcracker, and Celebrate and We Love Erie Day shows. She has danced in New York City in Times Square and on Broadway and Off-Broadway stages for five years in a row. She participated in Project Dance NYC in Times Square five Aprils in a row during her middle and high school years of school. While in NYC, she studied dance with Francis Roach and Luigi Faccuito, himself, at Luigi’s Jazz Centre, and the Broadway Dance Center. She has also taken workshops from Broadway star Nick Adams and Off-Broadway star Don Kirsch. She also followed her studies to different areas of Ohio, as she had a dance and cheerleading scholarship her first year of college. She was a sport and competition cheerleader for five years, going to multiple competitions and workshops through CCC and NCA, and was a college cheerleader for one year. Miss Alexa has been coaching cheerleading for six years. Miss Alexa is currently a 6th and 7th grade English teacher, a Graduate Student at Edinboro University, and, of course, a very passionate dance and cheerleading teacher here, at the Glenwood YMCA. Throughout her experiences with dance, Miss Alexa has never lost the passion for the art and hopes to pass on the same love and passion to her students.
Designed for ages 11-14 years. Under the supervision of trained instructors, the course concentrates on flexibility, cardiovascular and strength. Proper form, full range of motion and appropriate resistance and repetitions are emphasized. Get a healthy, early start to fitness and reinforce a lifetime pattern to exercise. At the Eastside Y the Youth Cardio Course is designed for ages 11-14years. This is a members only class. This is an age appropriate training on cardio equipment . Every youth member must complete this course in order to use the cardio equipment in the Wellness Center.Classes meet 1 hour for 2 weeks. Just the right clinic for those who enjoy sports! Youth are divided by age and will experience age-appropriate training in the technical, fundamental and game situation aspects of each sport.
