Adult Pickleball Courts

Pickleball is a racket sport which combines elements of badmitton, tennis, and table tennis. Fun for all ages.

Glenwood open Pickleball courts 9 a.m.-1:30 p.m. Tuesdays & Thursdays and Sundays from 10 a.m.-12:30 p.m. Don’t worry about a partner. We partner as we play. We have paddles or you can bring your own.

Eastside open Pickleball courts 11a.m.-1p.m Monday & Wednesday starting January 12th, 2015.  One court is designated for beginner/intermediate players and another for advanced players.  Pickleball is pick-up, so any can show up and get playing time.

Adult Soccer – CoEd (Futsal Indoor) & Women’s

Whether you’ve never played and want to try it, played all your life and want to continue or haven’t played in quite some time… we’ve got a division for you!  The YMCA, in conjunction with Gannon University, is able to offer a variety of soccer leagues – there’s a division for everyone!

Being an adult league, all participants must be at least 18 years of age to play.  All YMCA programs are recreationally-based, but we do encourage competitiveness as long as it’s within the limits of sportsmanship and respects the game itself.

The league is played on Sundays.  Indoors is played at the Eastside YMCA in the full gymnasium and outdoor is played at McConnell Family Stadium on the campus of Gannon University (turf field).

Ballroom Dance

Taught at a comfortable pace, this Y class is a great alternative to traditional group exercise.  A variety of dance styles are offered throughout the year including Latin, Swing and Ballroom.

Birthday Parties

What better place to have a birthday party for kids than the YMCA? We’ve got birthday party fun down to an art and our facility is a giant playground for kids eager to run, climb and play (and eat cake, of course!)

Party times are up to 2.5 hours and can include a variety of combinations from reserved swimming and gym time to planned youth activities/games and, if at our Camp – 70 acres of outdoor recreation including hiking, fishing and canoeing. A party room for cake and gifts is also available. Costs begin at $90 for Y members and community member rates are available. A $25 non-refundable deposit is required. Blood Drives

Giving blood is beneficial for those who give and those who receive.  The person receiving the blood gets a new chance at life or maybe a booster toward better living.  Those who give can feel the power of helping those who need.  Other benefits for the donor include self-awareness of pulse, blood pressure, cholesterol, and hemoglobin level as well as bringing own high levels of iron.  When a person donates blood they are helping the research toward healthy living and a healthy community. Blood Drives are held in partnership with the Community Blood Bank.

Bootcamp Gold

Deep Water Competency Test

Drowning is the second-leading cause of injury-related death for children ages 1-14 years old. In addition to drownings, five times as many children are victims of near-drowning incidents.

The YMCA of Greater Erie is committed to aquatic safety! All youth ages 17 and under will require a deep water competency test and an identification wristband before entering the deep end of the small pool or large pool. The test will only need to be completed once as a record will be kept on file but a wristband will need to be obtained from the membership or service desk and worn every time you visit.

Please be sure to stop by the membership desk prior to entering the pool area to get your wrist band.

Eastside Family YMCA Swim Team

Moving for Better Balance

Parkinson’s Disease Water Class

This program is designed specifically for participants diagnosed with Parkinson’s Disease.  Our instructors will take you though a 45 minute water class working on range of motion of the joints and muscles, balance and flexibility.  This class will take place in our 88 degree small pool.  The first class will start early with an orientation to help with first time jitters as our staff takes you on a tour of the pool area and locker rooms and answers any questions you may have.

Play & Learn

You and your child’s caregivers are their first “teachers”.  At Play & Learn, Y staff will show how your child learns through play and active engagement through our everyday activities like running errands, emptying the dishwasher, sorting laundry and preparing dinner.  We’ll share oodles of learning ideas for at home and on the go.

Play & Learn is a FREE preschool like program that child and caregiver attend together and includes songs and 13 learning centers from books to puzzles, to listening and dress up – all that reinforce learning in preparation for Kindergarten.  Snack is also provided.

Play & Learn is free and open to children ages 6 weeks-5 years old and their caregiver -relative or friend. Registration begins Aug. 15. Shallow Water Fitness

The water fitness/aerobics program was developed for the YMCA by Mary E. Sanders, PhD. The exercises are performed primarily in a vertical position in shallow water.  Water resistance creates an environment that improves cardiovascular conditioning; strength and endurance; and flexibility and balance.  Classes will be in one of three formats: Regular Aerobics will work through all of the shallow water moves; Dance & Fun will incorporate elements of different dance forms and games designed to challenge dynamic balance; Cardio Intervals will challenge members’ strength and endurance.  Work at your own pace; instructor-led modifications.

Connect with a great support network by participating in Weight Watchers® at the Y! Our Weight Watchers® group is an opportunity to “buddy-up” with others, gather resources about nutrition and living a healthy lifestyle. You can lean on your trained Meeting leader, who has been in your shoes.

Members who attend a minimum of 11 meetings earns a free month of YMCA membership (one awarded annually per household).

Cost is $156 for 12 weeks.  Pre-payment is required at time of registration and can be made in full or in three equal installments.  Program includes group meeting and 14 weeks of free Essential etools and 24/7 chat.  Program fees are established by Weight Watchers®.

Join at any time.  A minimum of 15 participants are required by Weight Watchers®.

Women & Weights/Strength Training

We offer two options for weight training for women.

Women and Strength Training at the County Y teaches proper use of the free weights and machines to achieve balanced muscle development. Increases metabolism to burn fat. Free to Y members only.

YMCA Aquatic Safety Assistance (YASA)

This certification course is designed to prepare participants with the skills and knowledge needed to recognize aquatic risks and assist a lifeguard in the emergency response of an accident or injury. Minimum age: 14 years and must be able to swim 100 yards and tread water 2 minutes, legs only.

YMCA Swim Lesson Instructor Course

This is the introductory course given to YMCA instructors teaching Parent/Child, Preschool, and Youth and Adult classes.  This certification course gives new instructors the basics for teaching swim lessons that are student centered, value oriented, safe and effective. Participants must be 16 years old at the time of registration.  100% attendance is required on all dates.  Cost: Free to YMCA employees, $75/Y members, $150/Non-Member.  Prerequisites: Current certifications in CPR Pro, First Aid and Oxygen Administration, ability to demonstrate proficiency in Minnow level swimming skills.

Youth Co-Ed Indoor Soccer

This program is offered twice a year (Mar-May & Oct-Dec) for ages 4-13.  The goal of the program is for players to learn the basic skills and strategies of soccer; such as:  dribbling, passing, shooting, formations, offense/defense, etc.  Games (6) are held on Saturdays and 30-minute practices are held once a week, Tuesday through Friday.

Youth Fitness/Cardio Course

Designed for ages 11-14 years. Under the supervision of trained instructors, the course concentrates on flexibility, cardiovascular and strength. Youth Water Fitness

This fun and challenging water fitness workout for kids, ages 7-14 years of all fitness levels, will have crazy competitions and fun music making this wet workout a blast!  This program is an ongoing class combining strength and cardio in fun, game style exercises.  It will take place in the large pool so kids mus be able to pass the Deep Water test to participate.  Deep water testing will take place beginning 15 minutes before class time.

This class, for 8-12 year olds, will help youth find confidence and comfort with themselves through yoga poses, meditation, and breathing techniques.  This class is a fun way to embrace the style of yoga on the mat and taking the practice of mindfulness of the mat.  No registration required. ZUMBA ®

Everybody and every body! Each Zumba® class is designed to bring people together to sweat it on. We take the “work” out of workout, by mixing low-intensity and high-intensity moves for an interval-style, calorie-burning dance fitness party.
