There’s hammering and clanking coming from the 5th Floor at the Downtown Y. Work crews have completed site preparation, demolished walls and have begun infrastructure work on plumbing, electrical and data for our 5th Floor Renovation Project.
A $515,000 project is currently underway to renovate the 5th floor of the Downtown Y to create necessary multi-purpose space to accommodate growing attendance and programming needs. Our 5th Floor Renovation Project includes a renovation of 5,340 sq. feet of vacant space. The project includes a large gathering space, kitchen, dining room, library/computer room and a game room.
The space will be purposed 60% of the time as a Teen Center and optimized the remainder of the day for programming needs for preschoolers, school-agers and seniors. What’s great about the way we are designing the space, however, is it will be highly functional for programming for other audiences as well. For example, during the day, we could host health education workshops and on the weekends, it could be used to host birthday parties or computer skills trainings.
Keep you in the loop, check out this update sheet about our project. You can also take a virtual tour of the project below.
We still need help in reaching our $515,000 fundraising goal – we’re within reach of the final $100,000. Naming rights are available. You can also help us by making a gift through the Erie Community Foundation’s Wish Book.
We are currently offering tours of the construction site and an opportunity to learn more about the project. You can schedule these by contacting me at 452-3261 ext. 224 or firstname.lastname@example.org or Tammy Roche at 452-1432 ext. 252 or email@example.com
