When your child attends YMCA CAMP SHERWIN, you’re not just dropping your child off for a day of random activities, but a day full of meaningful experiences that align with your child’s interests, needs and abilities.
Children spend time exploring 70-acres of towering trees and trails, searching for beach glass, fishing in the pond, water fun, games, weekly off-site field trips, sports, instructional and/or recreational swimming 4 days a week, arts and crafts, and friendships.
Children spend time indoors and outdoors as experienced staff lead campers in a wide variety of activities each day, including nature, water fun, games, weekly off-site field trips, sports, instructional/recreational swimming, arts & crafts, and new friendships. In addition, the Y incorporates healthy living into the day’s offerings. Children participate in playful activities which teach basic knowledge on how to include proper nutrition, exercise and positive self image into their daily lives. Lunch and camper T-shirt included.
Camp Sherwin is located on 70-acres of waterfront property and we take advantage of every square inch! For more than 100 years, campers have been coming to Camp Sherwin and enjoying outdoor recreation opportunities to make traditional day camp so special. Weekly off-site field trips, fishing, hiking, swimming, nature, sports, paddle boats and canoeing make the experience at Camp Sherwin special. We group children generally by age and child’s needs. A typical grouping is ages 3-5, 6-8, 9-11 & 12 & up.
Mondays – off-site field trips
Tuesday/Wednesday/Thursday – daily swimming lessons and recreational swimming, group games, paddle boats, canoes, fishing, bicycle days, hiking
Friday – swimming, science and art lessons

Financial assistance is available for working families needing help to pay for camp through Pennsylvania’s Child Care Information Services. If you qualify, CCIS assistance can be applied for Summer Camp. Call (814) 452-6580. It is the policy of the Y that no person be denied membership or program participation by reason of inability to pay fees. Funds made available for scholarships are provided by the Y’s annual campaign, which was generously donated by staff, members and the community. Financial assistance forms are available here.
