SUMMER FUN IN THE DOWNTOWN SUN
When your child attends Summer Camp at The Downtown Y, you’re not just dropping your child off for a day of random activities, but a day full of meaningful experiences that align with your child’s interests.  We have 54 Days of Summer Fun planned including trips to Waldameer, Presque Isle and  Tinseltown along with plenty of fresh air time at Camp Sherwin and local parks.

YOU’RE IN GOOD HANDS – STATE LICENSED PROGRAM
All YMCA Summer Camp programs, including this one, participate in the state licensing program Keystone Stars.  Much like a hotel rating system, Keystone Stars holds centers and staff to the highest standards.  Our program at The Downtown Y is a Kestone Star 4 program.  Your child will be cared for by oue well-seasoned and well-trained counselors, mnay of whom return from college each summer.  Counselors are required to complete pre-camp training including CPR, First Aid, AED and Child Abuse Prevention.  We conduct background checks and drug screenings on all camp counselors and employees.

WHAT TO BRING
All campers are required to bring their own sunscreen labeled with their name and given to their Counselor.  Campers should dress appropriately for activiites including closed toe shoes, bathing suit and towel, a tote bag for bagging their wet belongings, change of clothes, beach shoes/flip flops for the pool and a hat.  While we have water available, many children bring their own water bottle – and, lots of kids bring chich sacks for personal items.

Please leave valuables and electronics at home.  Hand sanitizers and Chap Stick are considered controlled substances by DPW and are prohibited because the product states “Keep out of the reach of children.”  Y staff supervise hand washing before snacks and meals.

DROP OFF/PICK UP
Drop off begins at 6:30am and pick up begin at 3pm.  If you must pick your child up prior to 3pm, please discuss this with camp staff as you may have to pick up at another locatin depending on the day’s activities.  Anyone picking up a camper from camp must be listed as an authorized pick up and will be required to show a valid photo ID at time of pick up.  A late fee of $1 per camper/minute will be charged for pick ups after 6:30pm.  Chronic late pick up is not permitted.

WHAT DO I NEED TO BRING WITH ME TO ENROLL
Enrollment packets are available at The Front Desk at The Downtown Y or online by clicking here.  Completed enrollment packets can be returned to The Front Desk at The Downtown Y.  Please also include with your enrollment packet sunscreen, your child’s medical insurance, list of any medications and/or allergies, current physical and immunization records, income information and any special need requirements.  We will also need the contact information of your case worker and your case number if you receive CCIS.

FINANCIAL ASSISTANCE
Because Y programs are for everyone, camp rates vary for each family based on the family’s personal circumstances.  Financial assistance is available fro working families needing help to pay for camp through Pennsylvania Child Care Information Services.  If you qualify, CCIS assitance can be applied to Summer Camp.  Call (814) 452-6580.  It is the policy of the Y that no person be denied membership or program participation by reason of inability to pay fees.  Funds made available for scholarships are provided by the Y’s annual campaign, which was generously donated by staff, members and the community.
