Summer is the time for kids to get up, get out and grow. But for some kids, exposure to activities that stimulate the body and mind ends with the school year. In fact, research shows that kids are prone to gain weight and fall behind in studies. On April 29th, the Y will celebrate Healthy Kids Day®, our national initiative to improve the health and well-being of kids.
Healthy Kids Day is the day for kids to charge into a summer full of activities – from sports and camping to learning and expressing themselves – that will keep them growing and achieving. Spend time together with the Y on Healthy Kids Day for lots of active play and ideas for the whole family to feel stronger and live healthier. Be sure to have kids bring a well-loved stuffed animal or doll for the UPMC Hamot “hospital” station. We’ll have lots of giveaways, including a one-year family membership and new bikes and helmets up for grabs courtesy of Wellsville.
Wear comfortable clothes and sneakers. Don’t forget the stuffed animal/doll!
Healthy Kids Day is free and open to the public.
Healthy Kids Day is generously supported by UPMC Hamot, UPMC Health Plan, Happi 92.7, Wellsville, Sam’s Club, Dick’s Sporting Goods, and Hertel & Brown Physical and Aquatic Therapy.
