The Highmark QUAD Games are the region’s premier fitness program with four (quad) year-round events designed to keep you and your family in great shape. For more than 30 years, the Highmark QUAD Games has offered this one-of-kind, fun and unique way for community members to have a greater hand in their health.
Events are designed for participants of all levels. For those interested in testing their athletic skills, the Highmark QUAD offers a competitive level with timed results and event awards. For those looking for a fun way to stay healthy all year, the Healthy Lifestyle Category lists results alphabetically and encourages you to approach the Highmark QUAD and its four events as short-term fitness goals that bring variety and fun to your physical activity.
The Highmark QUAD Games hosts a number of instructional and conditioning clinics in advance of each of the four events. Click here for group rides.
While the Highmark QUAD Games have made a number of area athletes household names, thousands of others have learned to cross-country ski, swim, cycle and run. Whatever your approach, every participant that crosses all four finish lines is recognized for their year-long commitment to health and is presented with a special long-sleeve Highmark QUAD Champion Shirt. This shirt can’t be purchased and is a prestigious award for the effort you’ve made during the four seasons of the Highmark QUAD Games.
The top three male and female finishers in each event also receive a cash award. And, new this year, athletes will be challenged to be named “Erie’s Best” in each event category. We’re crowning Erie’s fastest swimmer! Top 3 male and female swimmers earn cash prizes – but the fastest earn cash and customized swimmer’s jacket thanks to Impact Physical Therapy.
It is especially fun to participate with your family and introduce your children to healthy lifestyle sports. To encourage family participation, we offer two opportunities for kids. Children 12 & under may participate in the adult distances or in a noncompetitive series of shorter distances held immediately following the adult event. The Y provides free babysitting while adults participate in their event. All children receive a t-shirt and those participating in the noncompetitive series receive a medal. The participation fee is $25/series or $10/event.
All participants (adults and children) must complete registration online at www.highmarkquad.org. Payment can be made through our secure online payment portal or your application can be printed and mailed with your check made payable to the YMCA of Greater Erie. All proceeds benefit the YMCA of Greater Erie.

Riders have the choice of a 25 or 50-mile non-competitive ride. Each ride will take riders through the county’s beautiful vineyards, fruit farm region and lakeshore. The Lake Erie Grape growing region is the largest grape growing region in the world, which is why this ride will be grape-errific! The fruity aromas will remind riders of those long ago “jelly jar” days when people put up their own preserves. The ride includes optional stops at Mazza Vineyards and Welch’s and will conclude with a picnic. Proceeds from the ride benefit the Y’s Food + Fun bus, a free mobile meals site for kids in need.

This is Erie County’s premier bicycle tour with a long-standing tradition of spectacular routes, safety support, water stops and after ride fun. This non-competitive event provides several scenic ride routes of varying distances. West Erie County is a treat to the senses with its rolling farm land, narrow lanes, and old growth forest. Choose a 12, 25, 50 or the all new 100 mile century loop. All ride routes are monitored by EmergyCare’s trained medical professionals and water/snack stations are strategically placed to make sure riders can rest and refuel.
The YMCA’s Camp Sherwin, 10 miles west of downtown Erie, serves as the begin and end point for this ride. Camp Sherwin has plenty of amenities to keep the whole family entertained, whether riding or not! What’s an Alley Cat Bike race? Besides being one of the fastest growing bike adventure-rides, it’s also a whole lot of fun for cyclists of all abilities. Alley Cat is a scavenger hunt around downtown Erie. Cyclists will begin at Frontier Park and told where the race’s first stop is located. At that stop riders will be told where all 9 (cats have 9-lives) are located. How you connect those locations is up to each rider. The length of the ride is between 10 and 15 miles.
At the end of the ride prizes from New Belgian Brewing will be awarded.
