Yoga

All members must sign a waiver before entering the facility. https://www.ymcaerie.org/waiver

Masks are required in the building and while setting up for outdoor/indoor classes.  Masks are OPTIONAL during workouts.

CHAIR YOGA: A gentle form of yoga in a chair or standing using a chair for balance. Participants will learn breathing and relaxation techniques and the basic alignments of the postures. Advocates of this practice claim this type of yoga can reduce high blood pressure and anxiety, alleviate symptoms of chronic fatigue, arthritis, MS, carpal tunnel, clinical depression and chronic pain.

CHAIR YOGA DANCE: Easy to follow Yoga movement patterns will be learned first, thus creating the dance, many with a twist of Tai Chi or Qi Gong.  Follow the choreographed moves to soothing music & familiar tunes in a relaxing atmosphere. This class was designed for seniors and those with limitations, however, due to the nature of the class it is beneficial for all fitness levels. Benefits both mind and body!

ESSENTIAL YOGA: This accessible class moves at a moderate pace introducing traditional yoga postures that focus on the structural alignment of the physical body. This practice strengthens and releases the body organically, uniting body, mind and spirit for health and well-being.

GENTLE YOGA: Whether you are new to yoga or looking to revitalize your practice, this class provides you with the tools & inspiration you need to make yoga, and its benefits a regular part of your life.

FAMILY INCLUSIVE YOGA:  This yoga class is designed for children and families of ALL ages and abilities!  This fun and family-friendly class utilizes visual aides, songs, games, sensory supports and other modifications  to make learning yoga fun and accessible for all ages!  Learn how yoga practice and calming breathing techniques can help the whole family improve body awareness, sensory integration and emotional regulation.  Yoga is for EVERY body!

FLOW YOGA: A gentle blend of flowing movements choosing from beginner to intermediate asana that will strengthen the body, soothe the mind and nourish the spirit. Creating a deep sense of calm and openness.

RESTORATIVE YOGA: A practice that helps to reduce the effects of chronic stress. It stimulates and soothes the organs by providing a complete supportive environment for total relaxation. This class utilizes props and has fewer postures which are held longer than a typical class.

YOGA FOR WELLNESS: This class offers participants a varied Yoga practice focused on building balance, flexibility, and strength to promote an overall sense of well-being. Modifications are offered making this practice accessible for beginner to intermediate levels.

YOGILATES: A core class that blends the art of Yoga/Pilates to maximize health benefits.This mind-body class will focus on strengthening the core by promoting pelvis stability and abdominal control through an inward approach, connection of the breath, and purpose of movement.

MULTI LEVEL YOGA:  This class is for both advanced-beginner students.  This will help to give a great basic practice of yoga with the ability to grow.  Find your own practice within a knowledgeable and comfortable atmosphere.

KIDZ YOGA:  Kidz Yoga will help you find confidence and comfort with themselves through yoga poses, meditation, and breathing techniques.  This class is a fun way to embrace the style of yoga on the mat and taking the practice of mindfulness of the mat.  No registration required. Mats available for kidz to use during class.  (Ages 5-12 yrs)

KID’S MOVE W/MICHELEE:  Enjoy a 30 minute yoga class focused on mindfulness, yoga and breathing.  A new themed introduced each class allows kids to build confidence and practice being mindful.

SATYA YOGA:  Connecting to our highest truth using moving meditation, the power of intention, guided meditation, energy medicine and the asanas.

YIN YOGA: Working deeply into the connective tissues of deep fascial networks and joints of the hips, pelvis and spine through extended holds of postures, this meditative practice focuses on restoring mobility; strengthening the bones and joints; and increasing flexibility, circulation and mental focus. Unlike our active (yang) classes, yin yoga is a slower paced class with long held poses. Decelerating our movement and thoughts, and focusing deeply on the inner workings of the body, we linger in poses to cultivate yin qualities such as compassion, introspection, patience, sensitivity, stillness and surrender. Yin yoga asks ups to explore and expand our comfort zones, physically, mentally and emotionally. It is not intended to be practiced exclusively, but rather as a companion to a more vigorous yang practice.

POWER YOGA: Reap all the benefits of yoga in this one hour power class.  As you sweat, you’ll strengthen and stretch your body while you carve and sculpt your muscles.
