Brian Lee Crosby Memorial Learn to Swim Program at the Downtown Y and Rodger Young Pool
Operated by the YMCA of Greater Erie, the Brian Lee Crosby Memorial Learn to Swim Program 2023 is sponsored by City of Erie & Housing Authority of the City of Erie
Swim lessons are free to City of Erie residents aged 6 months to 17 years old at the Downtown YMCA. Classes meet 3 times a week on Monday, Wednesday and Friday mornings for 2 weeks. Advanced registration is required. Call the Downtown Y at (814) 452-3261 to register.
Parents or guardians are responsible for registration, attendance and transportation needs. Bathing suits are required. Certified lifeguards are on duty. Prior to the conclusion of each session, children will receive a certificate of achievement to celebrate the skills achieved and to identify the next stage in their continued progress.
Late registration will be accepted through the first week of the session if spots are still available. Lessons will not be held July 3-7 in observation of the holiday.

Session 3 July 24-Aug. 4 Registration: July 19-28
Session 4 Aug. 7-18 Registration: Aug. 2-11
Swim lessons will be offered throughout the summer at the Rodger Young Pool for those registered in the Rodger Young summer park program. Additional registration is not required. These classes are available in the afternoon to anyone registered in the summer park program.
Stage 1/Preschool Water Acclimation
Students develop comfort with underwater exploration and learn to safely exit in the event of falling into a body of water. This stage lays the foundation that allows for a student’s future progress in swimming.

Stage 4/School Age Stroke Introduction
