Power Scholars Academy

Building Potential

The Y is closing the academic achievement gap with pilot programs that improve students’ educational readiness, engagement and outcomes while helping them grow emotionally and physically, too.

Power Scholars Academy™ is a partnership between the YMCA and BELL (Building Educated Leaders for Life). BELL is a national nonprofit which aims to address the achievement gap, created by summer learning loss, by providing scholars with educational and enriching summer experiences. The program is currently offered at Pfeiffer Burleigh Elementary School, our local community partner. The Power Scholars program is 6-weeks long, running from the end of June through the beginning of August, and is offered at no expense to participating scholars.

Program Details

Through Regular attendance and participation in our Power Scholars Academy program, Scholars can make exceptional learning gains in math and literacy while receiving the benefits of social emotional learning opportunities. This program utilizes Growth Mindset to help build students up academically and emotionally by providing them with a way to see problems or mistakes as learning opportunities and preparing them to set their best foot forward at the start of the school year.

Help us fund future scholars by making a contribution today! The program runs at no cost to our Scholars who attend but, to continue this we need your help to make it possible! The cost of attendance for a single scholar to attend the program is $1,000 and we couldn’t do it without the support of the local community and our dedicated partners. Consider giving a gift to the Power Scholars Academy program.
