Lifeguard Training Course

The Lifeguard certification course through the YMCA of the USA is designed to provide participants the knowledge and skills necessary to be a lifeguard and professional rescuer. The course presents information on the skills and knowledge lifeguards need in pool, lake, river, surf, and waterpark environments.

Participants will also be certified in American Safety and Health Institute’s (ASHI) courses:
Basic Life Support, Basic First Aid, and Emergency Oxygen.

Participants must be at least 16 years of age by the end of the course to earn certification.

This course is for the person who has successfully completed the prerequisite swim.  The class will be held on Sundays, January 5, 12,19, 26 and February 2 from 10 am to 4 pm.  100 percent attendance is required.  Students will also have to compete on line learning for Basic life Support, Emergency Oxygen Administration, Basic First aid and YMCA lifeguarding before the first class on January 5.  Failure to complete on line learning will result  in not being able to attend the course.  After successful completion of all parts of the lifeguard course, the student will be certified in YMCA Lifeguarding V6, Basic Life Support, Emergency Oxygen Administration, and Basic First Aid.
