Client Advocate, Downtown Y

In mid-2013, law enforcement professionals, social service providers, ex-offenders and clergy began working together in new ways to develop a comprehensive “ex-offender reentry strategy.”  The purpose of the strategy is to assist individuals with a criminal background as they reintegrate into our community, so they may become, and remain, productive, self-sufficient citizens. To that end, the Downtown Y has been contracted in partnership with the Erie County Re-Entry Services & Support Alliance (ECRSSA) to hire a Client Advocate.  The ideal candidate will have a personal history of incarceration or history of use of mental health services; be comfortable engaging in street outreach and working in correctional settings, shelters, community-based programs, and other locations accessible to transitioning clients.
