YMCA Swim Team
Every swimmer has the potential to grow, achieve and discover what they’re capable of in the water. YMCA Swim Team provides a welcoming, supportive environment where swimmers of all ages and abilities can develop their skills, build confidence and become part of a team.
Led by caring, encouraging coaches, our Swim Teams focus on individual improvement through stroke technique, consistent practice, teamwork and a strong work ethic. Swimmers have opportunities to compete locally and, as they progress, advance to district, state and national-level competitions.
Competitive Swim Team programs are offered at the County and Eastside Family Y.
Blue Dolphins Dual Meets
A Dual Meet is a competition against another YMCA Swim Team. There is no fee for participation. Coaches choose the events for swimmers in these meets, but swimmers may request to be included in certain events. Swimmers must compete in 3 dual meets to compete in the Championship meet (High School swimmers also have to compete in 3 dual meets).

Blue Dolphins Swim Team League
We invite you to be a Blue Dolphin! The Blue Dolphins Swim League is a fun and exciting way for swimmers to build their skills, stay active, make new friends, and experience the excitement of competitive swimming. Whether you’re ready to try swim team for the first time or looking to continue developing your skills, our fall/winter season offers a supportive team environment where swimmers can build confidence, challenge themselves, and have fun along the way!
Cost for the Swim Team Season: First Swimmer $280, additional siblings $250, Highschool Swimmers and Meadville Satellite Team Members $150.

The County YMCA Blue Dolphins Swim Team includes swimmers who regularly practice at PennWest Edinboro and our Meadville satellite location at the MARC. While swimmers practice primarily at their designated location throughout the season, we are one team—training, competing, and cheering each other on as Blue Dolphins!
SEASON KICKOFF – ALL BLUE DOLPHINS TOGETHER!
We’re kicking off our 2026–2027 season by bringing our Blue Dolphins together! During the first week of practice, our PennWest Edinboro swimmers will join our Meadville satellite swimmers at their regular practice location at the MARC.

What better way to kick off the season? Blue Dolphins are invited to bring a friend who may be interested in swim team to join us for a practice, meet the team, and see what being a Blue Dolphin is all about!
WEEK TWO – PENNWEST EDINBORO
Our PennWest swimmers transition to PennWest Edinboro for the second week of the season with a modified practice time:

Beginning October 12, PennWest swimmers settle into their regular practice schedule:

Our Meadville satellite swimmers will continue their regular practice schedule at the MARC.
Throughout the season, there may be select dates when PennWest Edinboro is unavailable. On these dates, PennWest swimmers may have the opportunity to join our Meadville Blue Dolphins for practice at the MARC. Families will be notified in advance of any schedule or location changes.

- Practice start times: 5:45 p.m. or 6:45 p.m.
- Start time is based on the swimmer’s assigned skill group.

- New swimmers are required to complete a tryout before registering.

ESY Narwhals - New Swimmer Tryouts

New Swimmer Tryouts at Harbor Creek High School
Join us for a swim team tryout to see if it’s the right fit for you!
New Swim Team Participant Requirements
New swimmers must be able to:
- Jump into the deep end of the pool, fully submerge, and return to the surface without assistance.
- Tread water for 1 minute while maintaining good body position, with their head and ears above the water.
- Float on their back for 30 seconds.
Swimming Requirements
Swimmers ages 8 and under must be able to swim:
- 25 yards freestyle without assistance or stopping.
- 25 yards backstroke without assistance or stopping.
Swimmers ages 9 and older must be able to swim:
- 50 yards freestyle without assistance or stopping.
- 25 yards backstroke without assistance or stopping.
YMCA Membership Requirement
All swimmers must have an active YMCA of Greater Erie membership in order to register for the Eastside Narwhals Swim Team (ESY). This is a National YMCA requirement.
